This patient visited Dr. Cole for hair transplant repair surgery. Like many repair cases, this individual had very large and pluggy grafts placed by his prior physician. Scalp reduction surgery in combination with progressive hair loss after the surgeries created an additional problem; not only were the grafts too big, the patient also had an over-all unnatural pattern of baldness. The temple points and lateral humps were far too receded for the type of hairline that was built and the shape of the crown was distorted and elongated due to the reductions.
The goals of this first procedure were 1) restore a natural frame to the face by grafting the temple points and temple alleys and 2) balance the crown by grafting into the elongated section. Previous pluggy grafts were left in place during this initial phase as the primary focus was to create a recognizable pattern and facial frame. |
