Dear Dr Cole,
At the end of July last year, I had a FU hair transplant performed in a clinic in Greece, in which about 1300 units were placed at the forehead and in the crown. Shortly after the transplant, I suffered from inflammation and reddening in both the recipient and donor areas, which lasted for several weeks and only gradually disappeared despite the use of antibiotics. The procedure has led to strong shock loss which included the loss of hair that had been successfully transplanted in two previous procedures at a Clinic in Germany as well as a reduction of donor hair, that in my impression, far exceeds the amount of hair extracted for transplantation. What is worst, is that, now 8 month after the procedure, I have not seen any growth. I am utterly devastated and find it extremely hard to accept the way I look now.
Having seen the quality of your repair work has given me some hope that it might be possible to repair this and I was wondering whether you could give me some advice. Could it be the case that my hair is generally not suitable for FU transplants? If not, and if I decided to have another transplant, how long would you recommend to wait? I have the feeling, that the early complications are a sign that there won’t be any growth, or is it more common than generally assumed that growth starts after more than 8 months. If I decided to try again, what kind of strategy would you recommend? Would it be best to have several smaller procedures, which I would prefer because I am afraid of another failure, or would that increase the risk of further shock loss? I am aware that it is difficult to answer such questions based on the very limited information I have given, but I would be very grateful for any general advise you could give me. Thank you very much in advance. |
