Here is another wonderful patient’s story. This patient has had the first step in his surgical plan. He would like to fill in the frontal hairline and frontal third with a mixture of scalp and body hairs. Later, he plans to fill in the crown. Step one is to place a light density of scalp hairs to the frontal third. This is what we have accomplished and documented with pictures below. We placed 2017 scalp hair grafts with an average density of 30-35 follicular units/square centimeter. In this case, lower density was advised to increase the percentage of yield. We also placed 9 body hair grafts in an area of the crown so the patient can see how they grow before proceeding to the next step. The next steps will be to transplant body hairs around the scalp hairs in the frontal third, touch up the frontal hairline as needed, and the crown will be filled at a later date.
In the pictures below, there is an example of how to place a headband with gauze for the management of post-operative edema. For more information on managing swelling after surgery, click here: http://www.forhair.com/Headband.htm
You can see here how fast this patient heals in the donor area. There are fresh extraction sites right next to extraction sites that are two days old. |
