Could these follicular groups more than likely be classified as a 7 or 6 hair unit? The answer may more than likely be based on a specific patient’s donor density. Almost every patient has a percentage of larger follicular units by definition. Either way, this graft could be used as two or more 2 to 3 hair grafts. Results are more natural if 3 hair units or smaller are predominately used on a transplanted scalp. This concept involves knowing and understanding the patient’s needs to be met for the most significant cosmetic outcome.

Our ability to extract all follicular units without a significant transaction rate is enhanced with CIT. We prefer to transplant fewer grafts per procedure for very natural looking results. The initial cost per graft may be more but a better overall result will be achieved with fewer grafts. Many patients wonder why we are able to achieve superlative results with fewer grafts and the answer is simple, CIT. CIT allows selective harvesting of both smaller and larger follicular units to recipent areas. Some clinics quote the number of hairs they will transplant and don’t disclose graft counts but we quote only graft counts as you will get the best coverage per hard earned dollar.

Call me an idiot, but I thought that when I had a about 1300 grafts, they transplanted 1300 single hair grafts. Is that right or were some of the grafts larger?

Chicagochas,

You should have recieved 1300 grafts depending on the locations of your recipients areas. You may have recieved several 2 hair or 3 hair grafts which would give you more hair per square centimeter. A higher hair density generally means better overall coverage. We have encountered better coverage with CIT grafts when compared to other hair transplant procedures.

My adviced is not medical advice
