saline solution is a good alternative to other treatments. Our post-op solution contains antioxidants that help prevent oxidative damages to the grafts. the disadvantage of our solution is that it is more costly. saline is very inexpensive. if you use saline make sure it is no more than a 0.9% solution. if you make your own saline solution, put one teaspoon of salt in 7 ounces of water or 2 tsp of salt in 14 ounces of water. you can spray this solution as often as you like. the cold water will not hurt your grafts. the only concern you would have is if you used water that is either too hot or too cold. sometimes your sensation in the grafted area is not as good so you are at greater risk of burning your skin without knowing it.
it is unlikely that you used water that was so cold that you damaged your skin.
it is normal to loose the scabs and hairs between the 2nd to 3rd week. the hairs will come out with the scabs many times. you should not worry about this. it is a common concern, but means nothing. as long as there was no bleeding from a graft site when you lost the scab, you have done no damage and lost no grafts.
the grafts will grow back slowly, but they will come back. |
